The project design is only one of several key deliverables, and notwithstanding the design, the project cost is chief amongst them. Therefore, owners need to understand that while their Architect will often have a contractual obligation to “review” a budget and schedule at the completion of each design phase, they are by no means responsible for creating the preliminary budget and construction schedule. Nor are they responsible for further developing and tightening up that budget and schedule as the design progresses.
